Tara is a director, writer, producer and educator who creates theater that asks questions about the human experience of power and shame, the cultural experience of sameness and otherness, and the dramatic experience of how we tell and perceive stories. She developed and directed the critically acclaimed Burq Off! and is a producer of the Gotham Award winning web series Shugs & Fats. She translated and directed the English-language workshop premiere of the prize-winning Chilean play Las Analfabetas , and is a recipient of the Tow Travel Grant to research theater in Cuba. She is cofounder of Brooklyn Acts, a free performing arts program that tells stories by and about Brooklyn teens, and she recently received a CUNY Diversity Project Development Fund grant to create a public community storytelling carnival. She directs frequently with Exquisite Corpse Company and has developed new work at the Barn Arts Collective and KO Festival of PerformanceShe has created and directed educational, community, and professional theater in Russia, Italy, France, Chile, Costa Rica, London, Seoul, and in various U.S. states. In NYC, her has been seen at Walkerspace, HERE Arts, The Cherry Lane Studio, the 14th St. Y, Dixon Place, The Robert Moss Theater, and The Barrow Group Theater among others. 2018 Drama League Directing Fellow.
